Dr. Darcy Gioia recently retired as the Associate Director of the Rutgers Writing Program in New Brunswick and now continues to do writing coaching for Dan’s new LLC writing coaching group.
Darcy gained recognition as an exceptional writing teacher soon after she obtained her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Rutgers. While working with scientists in the life and physical sciences, she was invited to join the Writing Program at Rutgers. Soon afterward, she was appointed Director of the Livingston Writing Center. Her achievements eventually led to her appointment as the Associate Director of the entire Rutgers Writing Program in New Brunswick.
She has had a unique and lasting influence on all writing training at Rutgers. Her many assignments include supervising writing placement for all incoming Freshmen at Rutgers and serving as the testing and placement liaison for all universities and colleges in New Jersey. For WPx, she led the development of onsite writing training at major corporations working with business executives and project scientists. She has also helped many graduate students achieve difficult writing assignments in many types of academic research. Darcy is consistently rated as “one of the best writing teachers I’ve ever had” and obviously has a gift for generating involvement from students in any type of writing.
